Revenue officers seize 1.9 million cigarettes at Dublin Port

As a result of routine profiling and with the assistance of detector dog Waffle, Revenue officers seized over 1.9 million cigarettes at Dublin Port yesterday.

A spokesperson for Revenue said that “the consignment of illegal cigarettes branded ‘Manchester’, had an estimated retail value of €1.4 million, representing a potential loss to the Exchequer of approximately €1.1 million.”

Investigations are ongoing.

This seizure is part of Revenue’s ongoing operations targeting the shadow economy and the supply and sale of illegal tobacco products.
