Eat the Streets festival comes to Collins Barracks next week
Gary Ibbotson 06 Sep 2022Dublin City Council has announced that the ‘Eat the Streets!’ Festival will take place at the National Museum of Ireland – Decorative Arts & History, Collins Barracks, on Saturday, September 17.
The festival is taking place as part of Dublin Climate Action Week 2022.
There will be free workshops for children and the “young at heart,” the organisers say.
“You can learn how to pickle vegetables, to chop like a chef and earn your knife licence, or how to turn food scraps into compost.
“Our chefs will be ready to cook with you, and share their tips on climate action in the kitchen!
“You can also take part in a food-inspired treasure hunt that will take you through the halls of the museum.”
Running from 12pm to 5pm, the festival will also feature a series of After-Lunch Chats which will be a platform to share ideas and talk about how “food can be a solution to climate change, and of course delicious food and fun entertainment for all.”
“Dublin has recently signed the Milan Urban Food Policy Pact, joining 240 cities around the world committed to addressing urban food challenges,” said the Lord Mayor of Dublin Caroline Conroy.
“Eat the Streets! is a conversation about our food system.
“Taking care of the planet for the future begins in the kitchen. So, let’s explore our roots by growing, cooking, creating and discovering together!”
