Today, Dublin Bus and its employees have announced a new community partnership with LGBT Ireland for Pride 2022, while also telling Dubliners to watch out for its special Pride campaign, Dublin Bus X Do Dublin X LGBT Ireland ‘By My Side This Pride’, which has launches on digital channels this morning and will be on buses on routes across the Capital in July.

As part of its continued support of the LGBTQ+ community and employees, Dublin Bus has partnered with LGBT Ireland to create the “By My Side This Pride’ digital and outdoor ad campaign.

It features a diverse group of four LGBTQ+ community members, including Dublin Bus employees and LGBT Ireland service users, with the person who has always been there for them and who has grown alongside their journey – somebody who’s been there through the good times, the bad times and all the times in-between providing unrelenting support.

Speaking about the campaign, Vivienne Kavanagh, Dublin Bus Employee Development & Equality Executive said:

“Supporting communities is at the heart of what Dublin Bus does and supportive community partnerships with LGBT Ireland and similar organisations is something we are proud to do.

“All of us are on a constant journey of learning and we’re really looking forward to bringing the stories of these eight people to Dublin’s streets and beyond through digital.

“We take great pride in our progressive and pioneering D&I policies at Dublin Bus, and work to ensure all employees and customers feel welcomed and supported.”

LGBT Ireland is a national organisation which provides quality services to Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender people across the country, carrying out impactful work with all members of the LGBTQ+ community, especially those from minority groups including LGBTQ+ Travellers, Refugees and Asylum Seekers.

CEO, Paula Fagan, added: “LGBT Ireland is excited to partner with Dublin Bus in celebration of Pride 2022.

“The theme of this year’s Pride festival is Courage and at LGBT Ireland we recognise that every person’s journey is different and it can take courage to reach out for support.

“We are proud to partner with Dublin Bus who we recognise as a Diversity and Inclusion leader and we look forward to sharing this journey with them.”

With over 3,700 employees, Dublin Bus is considered a pioneer in the development of policies and support initiatives around diversity and inclusivity. 2017 saw Dublin Bus work with TENI (Transgender Equality Network Ireland) to produce its Workplace Gender Transition Policy and Guidelines for transitioning employees.

And in 2018 and 2019 it helped ‘Proud Dads’ and older members of the LGBTQ+ community to come together and enjoy Pride.

The resulting heart-warming videos were seen hundreds of thousands of times across the globe.

More recently it has supported Ireland’s only dedicated national LGBTQ+ press, GCN, and youth LGBT organisation, BeLonG To, through similar community partnerships.

As part of its support for Dublin LGBTQ+ Pride, Dublin Bus will also provide two buses for the organiser’s accessibility initiative to ensure those with mobility issues can participate in the parade.

In addition, the company’s recent partnership with Bohemian Football Club will see a percentage of sales of the Dublin Bus inspired 2022 FAI Cup Kit donated to LGBT Ireland.
