Lidl Whitestown Way now open
Padraig Conlon 02 Jun 2022Lidl Ireland has announced the re-opening of Lidl Whitestown Way, in Tallaght, from today.
The opening of the new store creates five new permanent jobs in the local community in addition to the pre-existing Whitestown Way store team.
Lidl Ireland say the re-opening brings an investment of €11 million to the locality by the retailer.
Denise Cullen, Sales Operations Manager for the district, Derek Kavanagh, Whitestown Way Store Manager and recently retired intercounty LGFA player, Niamh McEvoy, were all on hand to open the store.
From today customers will be able to shop in the new look store featuring larger aisles, higher ceilings and LED lighting to allow more natural light.
Moreover, the store will house a sustainable energy efficient heating system with heat recovery.
In line with Lidl’s community-focused objectives under its “A Better Tomorrow” Corporate Social Responsibility programme, and to mark the store re-opening, the store team at Lidl Whitestown Way have chosen the local charity, HOPE – Suicide Prevention Drop-In Centre, located in Tallaght, to benefit from a €1,000 donation that will be presented on the day.
With reopening of the store, Lidl says it hopes to increase funding for the local team and schools in the area, additional charity groups supported with FoodCloud donations and more funding for youth mental health through Lidl Ireland’s charity partner Jigsaw.
Store Manager, Derek Kavanagh, said:
“We are delighted to finally re-open the store up to the public today after being closed for six weeks.
“The team have worked very hard behind the scenes to get the store back up and running and we look forward to our customers seeing our new and improved store, enjoying the new features and experience the same great value they are used to.
“We have loved welcoming shoppers through our doors this morning and we hope to make a positive impact on this thriving community in the years to come.”
Lidl Whitestown Way store will be open daily: Monday – Saturday 8:00am – 10:00pm, and Sunday 9.00am – 9:00pm from Thursday 2nd June at 8:00am.
