Lord Mayor Alison Gilliland opens Book of Peace for Ukraine

Lord Mayor of Dublin, Alison Gilliland has opened an online Book of Peace to give Dubliners the opportunity to stand in solidarity with the Ukrainian people and support their right to live in a democracy.

“The violent unilateral invasion of Ukraine by Russia has shaken everyone who believes in a fair and democratic world,” Lord Mayor Alison Gilliland said.

“The right to self-determination and the ideal of living in peaceful harmony with our neighbours.

“We ask ourselves how we can help the Ukrainian people and how we can voice our opposition to Vladimir Putin’s aggressive actions.

“I hope that this online Book of Peace will give Dubliners the opportunity to show that we stand with the Ukrainian people, that we support their democracy and that we support the Ambassador of Ukraine to Ireland, Larysa Gerasko.”

The Book of Peace opened yesterday and will remain open until Wednesday, March 16.
