Minister for Special Education Josepha Madigan, has announced that the tender process has concluded for a brand-new building for Stepaside Educate Together Secondary School.

The school, which is located on the Ballyogan Road, Leopardstown, will get a new, stand-alone, 1000 student school building with a 4-class SEN base beside the Leopardstown racecourse.

Minister Madigan said in a statement that she was “delighted to announce that the tendering process for the new Stepaside Educate Together Secondary School building has concluded.

“I have been in touch with school principal, Barbara Mulhall to inform her that the Department of Education has issued a Letter of Intent to contractors for the new building, which will house 1,000 local students and a 4 class SEN base.

“This is really important progress for this project which the school community has been waiting on for many years.

“It will ensure that the school has the space and resources to continue to grow and develop over the coming years, for the benefit of the entire local community.

“Once all the final legal requirements are complete then work can finally begin on the site. The sooner the better for the whole school community.

“This is fantastic news for the local school community, students, staff, and parents. I am also delighted that the project will include an all-important SEN base, which recognises the importance of supporting the inclusion of students with additional needs as part of our education system. This is an area in which Stepaside Educate Together Secondary School has been exemplary.”
