Water pump failure in Howth causing outage for surrounding areas

Irish Water has identified that a pump failure has occurred at the Bailey Green reservoir in Howth, north County Dublin and is working with Fingal County Council to restore water as “quickly as possible to impacted customers.”

Irish Water says that “there will be supply disruptions to homes and businesses in Kitestown Road; New Road; The Summit; Thormanby Road; Windgate Rise/Road and surrounding areas.

“Dedicated water service crews have mobilised and repairs are underway and are expected to be completed by 4pm today.

“Typically it takes two to three hours following repairs for normal supply to restore to all customers affected by an unplanned outage.

Tselo Tlou, Irish Water, commented: “The repairs are being conducted as quickly and efficiently as possible to minimise disruption to the area and restore water to customers.

“We understand the inconvenience unplanned outages can have on customers and we appreciate your patience as we work to return the water supply to homes and businesses as quickly as possible.”

Vulnerable customers who have registered with Irish Water receive direct communications from the company for planned and unplanned outages lasting more than four hours.
