Irish Water working on burst watermain in Stillorgan, impacting large areas

Irish Water is currently working on a burst watermain in the Stillorgan area which supplies a number of locations across south Dublin and the city centre.

Areas affected include Leeson Street, Ballsbridge, Stillorgan, Blackrock, Donnybrook, Merrion, Booterstown, City Centre and the surrounding vicinities.

“Whilst every effort is being made to maintain supply to as many customers as possible through reconfiguring the network, some homes and businesses will be impacted by disruption to their supply including low pressure and outages,” Irish Water says.

“Dedicated water service crews have mobilised and repairs are expected to be completed by 7pm this evening.

Typically it takes two to three hours after this to restore normal supply to all customers affected by an unplanned outage.”

Joe O’Reilly, Irish Water, said in a statement: “The repairs are being conducted as quickly and efficiently as possible to minimise disruption to the area and restore water for all customers.

“We understand the inconvenience unplanned outages can have on customers and we appreciate your patience as we work to return the water supply to homes and businesses as quickly as possible.”

Vulnerable customers who have registered with Irish Water receive direct communications for planned and unplanned outages lasting more than four hours.
