Film fans are in for a treat with leading Irish cinema chain Movies@ set to open its doors at The Square Town Centre Tallaght in time for the eagerly anticipated Christmas 2021 Film Schedule.

The new Square cinema joins their other Dublin locations at Dundrum and Movies Swords.

Movies@ are completely reconfiguring and refurbishing the existing 13 screen complex from the ground up turning it into a cutting-edge, world-class cinema.

The Square Town Centre, which attracts over 15 million people through its doors each year, is home to over 140 retail units, 30 food outlets and offers visitors ample parking with over 2,400 spaces – making it a perfect location for the latest Movies@ cinema.

The arrival of Movies@ is the latest addition to The Square’s ongoing expansion and development project which to date has seen additional retailers, including the recently announced arrival of Penneys, and food offerings join the tenant lineup of the shopping centre.

Managing Director for the Movies@ Group, Graham Spurling (pictured above) said.

“We are really excited to be opening at the Square Tallaght, a location we believe fits with our vision of delivering an unrivalled experience for our customers. We will be playing a full range of content appealing to all tastes, from Blockbusters, Niche Interest and Live Shows all set within a modern, friendly and welcoming environment.

“The Cinema is being completely refurbished from top to bottom and re-equipped with incredible laser projection, surround sound equipment and each of the 13 screens are also being fitted out with super comfortable luxury seating options including electric recliners and our twin seat sofas, to offer an unrivalled out of home experience.

“This together with the redesigned foyer including a wide range of snacking options and our brand-new artisan coffee offering will make everyone feel like they have the red-carpet treatment from the minute they arrive”

Commercial Operations Manager for The Square, Fiona Power, said: “The arrival of Movies@ is a very exciting event for us.”

“We are thrilled to be working with an established Irish chain who are as committed as we are to providing a memorable experience for our customers.”

Asset managed by Sigma Retail Partners after its 2018 acquisition by US private equity giant Oaktree Capital, The Square’s new owners wasted no time in working on all aspects of the shopping centre, enhancing the current centre offerings and progressing plans to further expand a wide range of retail and leisure offerings.

Marcus Wren of Sigma Retail Partners, Asset Manager for The Square Town Centre, said they are thrilled to have Movies@ joining their tenant line-up, which they believe will be a huge success.

Mr Wren said: “Finding the right cinema partner for The Square Town Centre was very important to us, our customers and for the continued success of the shopping centre.

We have been working hard over the past year to ensure we secured the best possible operator for The Square Town Centre, and we are absolutely delighted that such an established cinema group will be joining our tenant line up including Penneys who will be opening their new store with us next year.

We wish Movies@ all the very best and we are confident they will be very successful in The Square.”
