Dublin’s Tony Walsh has been unveiled as the MACE Charity Unsung Hero in recognition of his tireless work with the Feed Our Homeless charity that he, along with his partner Natasha Morgan, set-up in 2017.

Feed Our Homeless are actively dedicated to making a difference to the lives of people who are affected by homelessness also who are most marginalised in society.

Tony, who was once homeless for 18 years, understands the daily struggles homeless people face and the dark places homelessness can bring a person and has devoted himself fully to this charity with a determination to eradicate the rough sleepers on the streets of Dublin.

One of the core fundamentals of Feed Our Homeless is to give support and encouragement to those who are struggling and to instil hope and the ability to change in those in need.

Through encouragement, motivation and someone believing in them Tony believes everyone can all reach their full potential despite their current circumstances.

The MACE Unsung Heroes Community Awards initiative was launched by Ireland rugby star Johnny Sexton to stimulate community spirit and recognise true local heroes like Tony in communities all around Ireland.

Commenting, MACE Sales Director Daniel O’Connell said, “Tony has devoted his life to helping people through the worst experiences of their lives and he is a truly inspiring individual.

“I am awestruck and full of admiration for his commitment and achievements. He truly embodies all that we look for in our heroes and I cannot think of anyone more deserving of this acknowledgement.”

In total, MACE presented five category Unsung Hero Community awards with each individual category winner being rewarded with cheques for €1,000. An overall MACE Unsung Hero Community Award winner was also selected and presented with a cheque for €5,000.
