The construction of 32 new social homes in Finglas has been completed.

The homes, which will be managed by Co-Operative Housing Ireland, consist of 16 one-bed units and 16 two-bed units.

Dublin City Council says that people who currently on the Finglas housing waiting list will be selected to move in to the units.

Local Independent councillor Noeleen Reilly said that the she is “delighted” to see new houses for the Finglas area.

“It is a lovely complex and is close to all local amenities in Finglas Village.

“These homes will come as a huge relief to people who have been waiting so long,” she said.

“It is well documented the housing crisis in Ireland and in particular Dublin.

“Finglas is not immune from that.

“There are thousands of people in the area waiting for their forever home.

“This development is a start but we must see more in the near future.

“There is ample Dublin City Council land in the area and in nearby areas that must be developed for Public Housing.”
