Dublin City Council invites proposals for light installation at Docklands

Dublin City Council has announced the Dublin Docklands Light Commission which seeks designs for a light installation to be located on City Quay on the south bank of the River Liffey in the Dublin Docklands.

The proposed light installation is intended to be a long-term addition to the Docklands and should be designed to have a minimum life span of 20 years with routine maintenance.

This invitation is open to artists (including architects) as individuals or teams and the competition is being organised on an open call two stage basis.

Fees will be payable to short-listed artists or teams for the further development of their initial proposals.

The commissioners are open to ideas which creatively add to Dublin Docklands and encourage artists to express themselves through their proposals.

This brief is intentionally open and the commissioners wish to be surprised by the originality of ideas combined with feasibility of proposals.

This commission is open to Irish and international artists.

Closing date for submissions for Stage 1 is 29th of September @ 4.00 pm.
