North inner city ready to welcome Kellie home

Triumphant Olympic gold medalist Kellie Harrington returns to Ireland today following her epic win in Tokyo on Sunday.

She is due to touch down at Dublin Airport around lunchtime before travelling through the North inner city on an open top bus.

The homecoming is due to take place at around 5pm, with Kellie likely to travel along Ballybough Road towards Summerhill, past her parent’s house in Portland Row, and passing through Killarney Street, Sean McDermott Street, Gardiner Street and the North Strand.

Dublin City Council however is encouraging only local people to line the streets.

A postbox outside Summerhill post office, close to Kellie’s family home, has been painted gold in anticipation of her arrival.
