Fingal sports clubs to get nearly €500,000 in equipment funding

Fingal sports clubs have been awarded €487,589 under the Sports Capital Programme, it has been announced.

Dublin Fingal TD and Fine Gael Climate Action Spokesperson, Alan Farrell TD, has said that this funding will make a profound difference to local sports clubs.

“This is a good day for many clubs across Dublin Fingal, today’s funding announcement will make a significant difference to many clubs in our communities and allow them to grow and develop their clubs which are a cornerstone of the Fingal community.

“This announcement refers to ‘Equipment Only’ applications, the Department received record numbers of applications in this year’s process, due to the high volume of applications made, applications which include capital projects will be announced in the coming months.”

The clubs have been awarded funding are:

  • DAA FC – €3,969
  • Donabate Portrane Tennis Club – €23,280
  • Fingal Rowing Club – €29,851
  • Kinsealy Boys FC – €6,500
  • Lusk Utd AFC – €25,453
  • Malahide Cricket Club – €9,770
  • Malahide Swords Canoe Club – €101,405
  • Portrane Athletic FC – €10,000
  • Portmarnock Swim Team – €7,749
  • Portmarnock Sub Aqua Club – €49,000
  • Ring Commons Sports Centre – €30,000
  • Rush Athletic FC – €28,389
  • Rush Fight Academy – €24,257
  • Skerries Hockey Club – €47,500
  • Skerries Sailing Club – €12,500
  • Swords Basketball Club – €8,478
  • Corrstown Golf Club – €30,000
  • Cricket Ireland – €39,488

Deputy Farrell said: “The staff and volunteers at all our sports clubs in Fingal work hard to provide the highest possible standards for the community and their work is invaluable.

“I would like to congratulate all those that have been successful today and wish them continued success in their respective sports.”
