Living with loss, Zoe Holohan shares her story at free bereavement support evening
Padraig Conlon 21 Jun 2021Death and the grief felt by those left behind are difficult at any time but it has been particularly difficult in the last year, regardless of when a death may have occurred.
Dublin North Bereavement Network and the South Dublin Bereavement Network are hosting a public information evening ‘Living with Grief Amidst a Global Pandemic’ on Thursday June 24th at 7.30pm.
Guest speaker, Zoe Holohan, the author of the recently published bestseller?‘As the Smoke Clears’ will share her personal experience of coping with the sudden death of her husband Brian in the wildfires of Greece in 2018.
Zoe will speak to her experience of dealing with her grief, finding hope once more and some of the lessons she learned on her path to recovery.
Zoe says, ‘I feel privileged to be a guest speaker at this years ‘Living with?Grief’ forum.
The Dublin Bereavement Networks and Irish Hospice Foundation provide crucial services and offer lifelines to those struggling with grief.
Bereavement is a subject that is sadly very close to my heart, but I passionately believe that by sharing our stories and experiences we can offer each other support.
My hope is that this event will bring comfort to the many that are enduring their battle with grief right now’.
This online event is for people who have experienced the death of loved one or work colleague through any circumstance, illness or sudden death; at any time, whether recent or a death from many years ago.
Professional speaker, Niamh Finucane, will share her knowledge and experience on the process of grief, how the pandemic has affected our grief, what can help and ways we can support each other.
Throughout the evening we will provide information about grief and the range of bereavement supports available in the Dublin region.?
Irish Hospice Foundation Bereavement Development Co-ordinator, Amanda Roberts says:
“Grieving the loss of a loved one is difficult and painful.
“The current pandemic has made this process even more difficult.
“Our online event aims to give people information about living with and coping with their grief, ways we can support each other at this time and some information about some additional supports available.”
