Four Dublin streets are to be pedestrianised from today to allow more space for walking and to facilitate outdoor dining.

at 11am, four streets on the south side of the city will be either fully or partially closed to traffic.

South Anne Street from the junction of Dawson Street, South William Street from Exchequer Street to the Brown Thomas carpark exit, Drury Street from just after its junction with Fade Street to the Drury Street underground carpark, and Dame Court from Exchequer Street will be pedestrianised.

Dublin City Council made the decision to close the streets to traffic after “successful weekend trials” last year.

Outdoor dining will be permitted in the country from June 7.
