Gardaí seize €65,000 of drugs and arrest two people in D8 searches

Gardaí attached to Kevin Street Divisional Drug Unit carried out a planned search of a premises on Nicholas Street, Dublin and Bride Street, Dublin 8 yesterday and seized over €65,000 worth of  illegal drugs.

In a statement, a Garda spokesperson said: “A stop and search operation was put in place and a woman, 21, was searched and Diamorphine was seized with an estimated street value of €29,960 (subject to analysis).

“A further stop and search was conducted and a man, 52 years was found with €4,450 cash on his person.

“Both persons were arrested at the scene and detained under Section 2, Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996 at Kevin Street Garda station.

“A further search was conducted of two properties and Diamorphine was seized with an estimated street value of €35,000 (subject to analysis).

“Investigations are ongoing.”
