The Irish Coast Guard successfully rescued a dog trapped on a sea cliff at Red Rock in Sutton, yesterday evening.

In a statement released by the Howth station, a team was “dispatched and arrived quickly on scene.

“A Coast Guard heights rescue was set up and a rescue climber was lowered to Freddie (the dog) who got trapped after falling 10 meters while travelling along the cliffs with his owners.

“Freddie was lowered down to the beach below and reunited with his relieved owners with no injuries reported.

“Freddie’s owners did the right thing when the dog got trapped.

“They didn’t attempt a self rescue and contacted the Coast Guard on 999.

“We encourage the public to contact the Coast Guard if they see people attempt a rescue on the cliffs.”
