Dublin City Council has announced that it has decided to waive all street furniture fees until the end of 2022.

The council said it made the decision to help struggling businesses recover post the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Office of City Recovery has also launched a new brochure for businesses entitled ‘Street Furniture Guidelines,’ which includes details on business use of public spaces, and Temporary Covid Street Furniture Permit application procedures.

“These are just the latest initiatives we are working on to help the city get back on its feet,” said the Lord Mayor of Dublin, Hazel Chu.

“We are very conscious of the financial pressure hospitality businesses across the city are under during these very difficult times.”

Dublin City Council said it would like to remind tourism and hospitality businesses that applications remain open for financial support from the Outdoor Dining Enhancement Scheme.

Under the terms of the scheme, businesses can request support to purchase or upgrade equipment to provide additional outdoor seating and, therefore, increase their outdoor dining capacity for summer 2021.

Public consultation also remains open until May 14, on providing additional space on Capel St. for outdoor dining.
