The jury in the trial of a garda accused of assaulting a teenager in Temple Bar over four years ago have indicated that they have reached one verdict.
Lorcan Murphy (32) of Pearse Street Garda Station has pleaded not guilty to two counts of assault causing harm under section 3 of the Non-Fatal Offences Against the Person Act, 1997.
The assaults on the then 17-year-old are alleged to have taken place on Essex Street, Dublin 2 and Pearse Street Garda Station on June 1, 2021.
Yesterday, the foreman of the jury indicated to Judge Pauline Codd that they have reached one verdict in relation to the case and wished to continue deliberations in relation to the second count.
The foreman did not indicate the verdict to the court.
The jury had been deliberating for just over four hours.
Judge Codd suspended their deliberations for the day and told them to return in the morning to continue consideration of the verdict before them.
