16 people to appear in courts following police operation in North Dublin
Dublin People 04 Oct 202416 people are expected to appear before Dublin District Courts this morning, Friday, 4th October 2024, following a comprehensive policing operation conducted as part of Operation Thor in North Dublin.
Over recent weeks a number of arrest operations were carried out in the DMR North Division by Gardaí in the Coolock and Raheny districts. These operations specifically targeted individuals living in communities in North Dublin, who are engaging in targeted property crime and profiting from criminal activities.
As part of the current investigative phase of Operation Thor, a total of 16 persons (13 males and 3 females) aged from 14 to 55 years old have been charged with 62 offences, including, burglary, theft, criminal damage, robbery and unauthorised taking of a vehicle. All 16 will appear before the Criminal Courts of Justice (CCJ), Cloverhill District Court, Swords and Balbriggan District Court and Dublin Children’s Court today at 10:30am, Friday 4th October 2024.
Operation Thor, launched in November 2015, is designed to tackle the anticipated increase in the number of burglaries and associated criminal activity that usually occur in winter months by undertaking targeted enforcement and preventative activity. This initiative has successfully reduced the rate of winter burglaries, leading to a significant decline in property related crime since its introduction in 2015.
This is an active and ongoing operation.
