Revenue seize contraband worth over €400,000 in Dublin

Revenue officers examining parcels at premises in Dublin and the Midlands seized approximately 17.6 kgs of herbal cannabis and 1 kg of amphetamines, with a total combined value of almost €368,000, during the course of numerous operations.

Various quantities of other illegal drugs, with an estimated value of €5,000, were also seized.

The illegal drugs were discovered, as a result of risk profiling, in parcels that originated in USA, the UK, the Netherlands, Spain, Canada, Thailand and India, and were intended for addresses nationwide.

Revenue officers also seized a quantity of retail goods, with an estimated value of over €28,000, due to infringements of Intellectual Property Rights.

These seizures are part of Revenue’s ongoing operations targeting smuggling and shadow economy activity. If businesses, or members of the public, have any information regarding smuggling, they can contact Revenue in confidence on 1800 295 295.

The various quantities of other illicit drugs (with an estimated value of €5,000) seized last week comprised: 15mls of cannabis oil, 8g of cannabis resin, 1.19kgs of cannabis edibles and 1,906 Tapentadol and Zopiclone tablets.

The retail goods (worth over €28,000) seized last week, consisted of 123 x items of Adidas, Alexander McQueen, Birkenstock, Canada Goose, Chanel, Dr Martens, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, New Balance, Nike, The North Face, ON Cloud, Ralph Lauren, Ugg, and White Fox.

No further information is available as investigations are ongoing.
