Revenue seize contraband worth over €367,000 in Dublin

Over the course of the past week (week commencing 26/08/2024), Revenue officers examining parcels at premises in Dublin seized approximately 14.9 kgs of herbal cannabis with an estimated value of over €298,000, during the course of numerous operations.

Various quantities of other illegal drugs, with an estimated value of approximately €2,500, were also seized.

The illicit drugs were discovered, as a result of risk profiling, in parcels that originated in the USA, Canada, the UK, Spain, the Netherlands, India and Thailand and were intended for addresses nationwide.

Revenue officers also seized a quantity of retail goods, with an estimated value of €66,600, due to infringements of Intellectual Property Rights.

These seizures are part of Revenue’s ongoing operations targeting smuggling and shadow economy activity. If businesses, or members of the public, have any information regarding smuggling, they can contact Revenue in confidence on 1800 295 295.

The various quantities of other drugs (worth €2,500) seized comprised: 39mls of cannabis oil, 350.30g of cannabis edibles, 23.3g of butane honey oil, 1.6g reefers. 20ml synthetic cannabinoid and 844 Alprazolam, Benzodiazepine, Diazepam, Zolpidem and Zopiclone tablets.

The retail goods (worth €66,600) seized consisted of: 27x items of Converse, Louis Vuitton, New Balance, Adidas, On Cloud, Under Armour, Versace, Hermes, Burberry, North Face, Calvin Klein, Chanel, Christian Dior and Nike.

No further information is available as investigations are ongoing.
