Man arrested after firearm and €20,000 of cannabis seized in Dublin

Gardaí have seized a firearm and arrested a man following the search of a property in the Ballyfermot area of Dublin 10 on Wednesday afternoon, 14th August 2024.

Gardaí attached to the Dublin Crime Response Team (DCRT) with the assistance of the Garda Armed Support Unit carried out the search operation and seized a handgun.

1kg of cannabis herb, worth an estimated €20,000 was also seized.

The firearm will now be sent on to the Ballistics Section of the Garda Technical Bureau to undergo analysis and the drugs seized will be sent to FSI (Forensic Science Ireland)

A man (40s) was arrested and is currently detained at a Garda Station in the DMR under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act 1939/98.

Investigations are ongoing.
