Steakhouse shooting victim dies in hospital

A 48-year-old man who was shot in a Christmas Eve gun attack in a Blanchardstown restaurant has died in hospital.

Jason Hennessy Senior was in a serious condition since the attack on December 24th, and died in the Mater Hospital on Thursday.

The Sunday World reports that he was transferred to the Mater Hospital after his condition worsened and died after a few days on life support.

Hennessy Senior was shot in the neck during the Christmas Eve attack in which the gunman,  Tristan Sherry, was overpowered and stabbed to death.

It is understood that Hennessy Senior was driven to hospital by a relative after the shooting.

A 22-year-old man appeared before Dublin District Court where he was charged with Sherry’s murder.

Michael Andrecut of Dublin 15 was brought before Judge Stephanie Coggans at a special court sitting at the Criminal Courts of Justice and was remanded in custody.

Two other men, including an 18-year-old, have also been arrested in connection with the murder and remain in garda custody.

An Garda Síochána have now commenced a second murder investigation as part of their wider investigation into this incident, which is being conducted at an incident room in Blanchardstown Garda station led by a Senior Investigating Officer.

Garda Family Liaison Officer (FLO) continue to liaise with both families regarding this investigation and local Gardaí continue to receive assistance from the Garda National Bureau of Criminal Investigation (GNBCI).

A post-mortem examination will be conducted in the coming days on the body of the deceased male by the State Pathologist.

Gardaí continue to appeal for any witnesses to these incidents or for any persons with video footage to come forward.
