Is it the quiet barista who knows your name and your order before you speak?

The primary school teacher who goes the extra mile? The corner butcher who’s been serving generations?

Or maybe it’s the GAA club that brings your whole neighbourhood together every weekend.

Now, you get to shine a spotlight on the people and places that make Dublin the city we love.

We’re thrilled to launch Dublin People’s Choice Awards 2025, a major new reader powered celebration of everything and everyone that makes our communities tick.

These awards aren’t decided by committees or influencers.

They’re decided by you — the readers of Northside and Southside People.

Over the coming weeks, you’ll be invited to nominate your favourite local businesses, venues, professionals and organisations across 25 categories.

Whether it’s your go-to café or a local event that brings your street to life, this is your chance to give them the recognition they deserve.

And it couldn’t be easier to take part.

How it works

Dublin People’s Choice Awards 2025 is a two-stage process:

Stage 1: Nominations (Open now)

Readers can submit their nominations using:
• Our online form at www.dublinpeople.com

You can fill in as many (or as few) categories as you like.

Maybe you’re passionate about brunch, but not sure about florists.

No problem, just skip the ones you’re unsure about. The goal is to get genuine, heartfelt nominations from people who know and love these local gems.

We’re keeping nominations open until Monday, July 28, so there’s plenty of time to spread the word and encourage your friends and neighbours to vote too.

Stage 2: Public Voting

After nominations close, we’ll count up the most popular entries in each category.

The Top 5 finalists will then go forward to the public vote, which begins in early August.

This is where things really heat up, with profiles, promotions, and some friendly local competition as readers choose their ultimate favourites.

Final winners will be announced in special editions of Northside People and Southside People and featured prominently on our website and social media platforms.

Winners will be part of something bigger, a campaign that celebrates the real Dublin, as chosen by the people who live and work here.

Why we’re doing this

At Dublin People Group, we know the power of community.

For almost 40 years, we’ve been telling the stories of the people who quietly make this city better, and now we’re handing the microphone to you.

“This isn’t about celebrity or hype,” said Dublin People Group Editor Padraig Conlon. “It’s about celebrating the cornerstones of our neighbourhoods, the places and faces that make Dublin tick.

“So go ahead. Tell us who’s earned your respect, your loyalty, or your morning coffee business.

“Vote for your teacher, your trainer, your takeaway, your teammate.

“Let’s give them their moment.”
