Breakfast is Better Together! Host your very own Childline Breakfast this May and help Childline
Dublin People 21 Apr 2026
Morning time is such a juggle – making the kids’ lunches while trying to ensure that they eat breakfast, getting yourself ready while reminding your other half of the day’s activities, munching on a mouthful of cereal while brushing someone’s hair.
It’s not exactly the dream start to the day. Wouldn’t it be nice to take a breath and carve out a little time to have a chat over your tea and toast, rather than just issuing a list of instructions to anyone who happens to be in the kitchen?
This May, Childline by ISPCC is calling on families, creches, schools, clubs and workplaces throughout the country to take time for breakfast – to sit, listen and enjoy each other’s company while supporting Ireland’s only 24/7 listening service for children and teenagers nationwide.
Children turn to Childline staff and volunteers to talk about family relationships, mental and emotional health and sexual abuse.
Many of these callers are repeat contacts who in their darkest moments have then asked for help with suicide ideation.
Please help Childline by hosting your own breakfast so we can continue to be there for every child who needs them.
Register your school, creche, club or workplace and we’ll send you a fun Breakfast event pack with bunting, balloons, posters and well-being cards.
These have been designed by therapeutic experts at Childline and work as conversation starter cards to encourage check-ins with the children and young people in your life.
James Phelan, Head of Fundraising at ISPCC, says “A small donation can make a big difference for children who need someone to listen.
“We depend on donations for up to 90% of the funding which keeps us listening 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days of the year.
