Barnardos: Turn unwanted gifts into support for children in Dublin

Padraig Conlon 06 Jan 2026

Barnardos children’s charity is calling on the Dublin public to donate leftover and unwanted gifts to one of their four shops in Dublin, in Dún Laoighaire, Clondalkin, Dalkey and Kilbarrack.

Take your unwanted Christmas gifts and turn them into support for other families at your local Barnardos shop.

Each donated item will help generate funds for the charity’s vital work with children and families across Ireland in 2026.

With over 35,000 children and families supported by Barnardos, the charity is keen to collect as many donations as possible to help as many children and families.

Rather than leaving unwanted gifts to gather dust on a shelf, donate them today to make a difference to another family.

All kinds of gifts are welcome, such as clothes, gadgets you don’t want or books you’ve already read.

Barnardos has four stores in Dublin:

  • 8 Upper George’s Street, Dún Laoghaire, Co Dublin
  • 7 Main Street, Clondalkin, Dublin 22
  • 1 Blue Court, Convent Road, Dalkey, Co Dublin
  • Unit 7B, Kilbarrack Shopping Centre Kilbarrack, Dublin 5

Colette Miller, Barnardos Retail Shops Manager said:

“We all know the feeling of receiving Christmas presents that we don’t really want or need and end up stuck with them lying around the house. Instead of leaving them clogging our cupboards, take them down to your local Barnardos shop in Dublin where we will happily find someone to put them to good use.

“The funds raised from these donations go directly towards our work in 56 service locations, where we help children when they need it most.

“Because childhood lasts a lifetime.”

If you wish to donate any unwanted gifts this year, you will find details of your local shop and its opening hours here.
