Irish Red Cross Celebrates Annual Volunteer Awards – Terenure Branch’s Oksana Tsymbalova Shortlisted for Volunteer of the Year 

The Irish Red Cross has announced the shortlist for this year’s Annual Volunteer Awards, recognizing the extraordinary contributions of its volunteers across Ireland.  

Among those shotlisted for the prestigious Volunteer of the Year award was Oksana Tsymbalova, a dedicated mental health support provider based in Dublin and volunteering with the Terenure Branch of the organisation.  

Oksana received her recognition of being shortlisted at a ceremony in Croke Park at the weekend. 

Since joining the Irish Red Cross in May 2022, Oksana has demonstrated unparalleled commitment to supporting vulnerable communities, particularly those affected by the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.

Her tireless efforts have made a profound impact on the lives of individuals navigating the challenges of displacement and trauma. 

A Beacon of Hope for the Ukrainian Community 

Oksana’s work focuses on fostering resilience and healing within the Ukrainian community, with her contributions including: 

• Mental Health Support: Providing critical psychological support to individuals coping with the impacts of war. 

• Children’s Art Therapy Sessions: Dedicating 4-6 hours each week to facilitate creative, therapeutic outlets for children. 

• Workshops for Women: Offering safe and empowering spaces for Ukrainian women to build inner strength and harmony. 

• Social Media Advocacy: Utilizing online platforms to raise awareness about mental health and share accessible resources. 

Oksana’s combination of compassion, creativity, and practical skills has transformed the lives of many, creating a sense of safety, solidarity, and hope among those she serves.
