The Alzheimer Society of Ireland Curlew Road Day Care Centre brings joy to people with dementia

The Alzheimer Society of Ireland (The ASI) Curlew Road Day Care Centre in Drimnagh spread the festive cheer by hosting a joyful Christmas Party for its service users and their loved ones.

The event, held on Monday, December 11th, brought together staff, people living with dementia, and their family members, creating a heartwarming atmosphere filled with live music and festivities.

Service users received personalized Christmas cards at the Christmas Party, adding a special touch to the festive celebrations.

The Alzheimer Society of Ireland Manager for Curlew Road Day Care, Noel Quilantang said: “The Alzheimer Society of Ireland Day Care Centres hold a special place for our service users, providing them with a safe and enjoyable environment where they can spend their day in the company of friends.

The Curlew Road Day Care Centre, a vital dementia-specific support for people living with the condition in Dublin, consistently strives to provide unique and meaningful experiences to its service users.

The Centre celebrates various occasions and events with its service users throughout the year.

In September, a vow renewal ceremony was held for a couple who navigate life with dementia, commemorating their 60 years of marriage.

Additionally, the Centre has organized fun celebrations such as a Rose of Tralee and Eurovision Competitions, ensuring that service users can engage in new experiences and enjoy the present.

An estimated 16,967 people live with dementia in Dublin, and 64,000 people live with dementia in Ireland and more than 11,000 people develop the disease annually – at least 30 people daily.
