Dublin City Council Funtropolis returns to Merrion Square Park this weekend

This incredible family fun weekend offers a diverse range of activities that guarantee enjoyment for everyone.
Come to the park between 12pm and 6pm on both Saturday 8th July and Sunday 9th July to take part in the array of FREE family fun activities.
Dublin City Council Funtropolis is the perfect place to create some fantastic family memories and ignite imaginations with exciting performances, nail biting aerial exhibitions, groovy tunes, educational entertainment, delicious food & drink options and much, much more.
Dublin City Council Funtropolis will also take place in Mountjoy Square Park on Saturday August 19th and Sunday August 20th.
Dublin City Council will introduce its innovative new outdoor mobile child sensory unit, for children who identify as neurodiverse at Dublin City Council Funtropolis.
Going forward, the sensory unit will also be present at all suitable Dublin City Council outdoor events, allowing for an inclusive experience for everyone in the community.
Music lovers will be delighted with the extraordinary line-up of performers, including the talented CÓRus Choir, Code of Behaviour, and the sensational DJ Donal Dineen.
Funtropolis will also showcase local music talent in association with First Music Contact.
The multicultural collective, Go Dance for Change, will grace the stage with performances representing and celebrating Dublin’s diverse cultures.
Prepare to be entertained by renowned faces like Mark the Science Guy, who will captivate audiences with his energetic display of favourite experiments.
The two-woman punk circus, Snatch & Grab, all-woman cabaret act Daring Dames, Death or Circus presented by Tumble Circus, and the explosive acrobatic show On Tish by Síolta Circus will provide excitement and thrills for all ages.
Curious State’s hilarious tragicomedy, Le pOpéra, will have audiences in stitches with its humour, live music, and comic songs.
Additionally, the hit show The Grannies by the all-female clown duo Bill & Fred and Fanzini Productions’ Ballet Poulet, a masterpiece of dance and comedy, will keep the laughs coming.
Grant Goldie will amaze spectators with his gravity-defying performance, and other wandering entertainers like Science on Stilts, Flea Circus, Snails Tale, and Mr. H will provide unexpected surprises.
The Little Gem Puppet Show will captivate younger guests, who can also get their faces painted for free at the face painting tent in the park.
Young minds will be kept busy with GOAL’s Changemakers workshops, featuring interactive storytelling sessions and performances.
Ta Tum Tum will offer Samba lessons for younger children (ages 3-6), while older children can participate in collaborative art and games that promote reuse and recycling at ReCreate.
The Science Zone offers opportunities to learn something new, and the DCC Sports and Wellbeing Zone provides a chance for relaxation and self-care with a variety of sports demonstrations. Book lovers of all ages will also be delighted with the mobile library.
Dublin City Council is encouraging guests to travel by foot or public transport, as buggy storage and bike racks will be available.
A drinking water station will allow everyone to easily refill their reusable bottles throughout the day.
A convenient baby feeding area will also be provided, and the removal of pitch fees for food and drink vendors will result in better value for all.
Dublin City Council is implementing a no single plastic measure at Funtropolis reducing the festival’s carbon footprint by using only HVO generators.
The festival program has been carefully curated to be inclusive and representative of the people and cultures of modern Dublin.
