Celebrating the best of creativity and festive cheer at Richmond Barracks Christmas Fair
Padraig Conlon 23 Nov 2022To help people prepare for a happy Festive season, Richmond Barracks in Inchicore will host a Christmas Fair on the 26th and 27th of November from 11am – 5pm, where you can enjoy a feast of seasonal food, crafts, clothing, design, gift ideas and art.
Admission is FREE.
There will be over 30 stalls offering expertly crafted and unique products made by local businesses, artists and craftspeople, and delicious locally made food.
Visitors of all ages will have the chance to take part in one of the Christmas themed drop-in creative workshops for all ages.
Drop in and browse stalls from local businesses, craftspeople and artists, with lots of unique gifts and Christmas things to buy.
Or try something new at the various family friendly workshops for all ages and enjoy the festive music, hot drinks and treats.
The fair has workshops to attend, entertainment to enjoy, food to feast on and a great variety of items from local vendors to purchase including clothing, crafts, design, food and drink, gift ideas and art.
Entertainment will be provided by local school choirs, community musical groups and bands including The Mercy School choir from Inchicore, the Griffith Barracks Primary School choir and the St. James’s Brass and Reed Band, considered Ireland’s oldest band.
Iseult Byrne, CEO of Dublin City Council Culture Company, commented: “Richmond Barracks is a cornerstone of the community in Inchicore.
“The Christmas Fair is the perfect reason to visit this fantastic building, take part in some drop in workshops, buy something for the home or a gift, and learn about all the things you can do at Richmond Barracks when you return to see us again.
“We’re delighted to welcome social enterprises, small businesses and traders from the local areas around Dublin 8, 10, 12 and 24 and in some cases introduce them to new customers or participants. There will be a warm welcome for everyone.”
There will also be tasty treats to eat and drink from two social enterprises, the award-winning FoodCloud Kitchen and The Mug Shot Café. Also feeding the crowds will be Revolution Farm and Kitchen and JDR Coffee serving locally roasted speciality coffee, delicious pastries and homemade banana breads.
November’s Christmas Fair at Richmond Barracks highlights food, design and crafting and is the third in a series of fairs during 2022/23 by Dublin City Council Culture Company (which runs Richmond Barracks) and supported by Dublin South City Partnership with Kilmainham Inchicore Network.
These quarterly fairs showcase the quality and creativity of the small businesses, craftspeople, makers and social enterprises abundant in the local area, as well as promoting culture, creativity and conversation.
Many of the businesses showcasing their products and services are supported by Dublin South City Partnerships.
Visitors can also find out what’s coming up in the Richmond Barracks Culture Connects programme for all ages, including crafts, dance, gardening, local history, storytelling and singing.
