Young people get active with YMCA Dublin’s Summer Programme
Padraig Conlon 24 Aug 2022Following a successful summer of activities, young people from YMCA Dublin took part in a sports day in Dublin 8 to conclude YMCA Dublin’s successful Summer Programme of events.
From mindfulness walks to sea swimming, YMCA’s active summer programme has helped 40 young people get out of their comfort zone this summer and get active in their community.
YMCA Dublin’s Summer Programme was funded to support young people, primarily from inner city Dublin, with physical, mental well-being and social skills during the summer break.
Erin Ballesty, Youth Work Team Leader with YMCA Dublin said “These sessions have played a vital role for young people in the community, in particular keeping some of our youths active and engaged during the summer months. We wanted to ensure that our youths feel a part of their community and feel supported as they explore their interests and build friendships. It is amazing to see how much these young people have grown and gained confidence throughout the summer months.’
Kathryn O’Mahony, CEO of YMCA said “We were delighted to host another summer season of activities for young people to enjoy. From physical activities and mental well-being workshops, we wanted to focus on creating a programme that young people can engage with while working on their personal skills and development in a safe environment.”
