Short film about late, great Dubliner Mags Merry

A fascinating newly released video featuring the late, great Dubliner, Mags Merry from The Liberties talking about her memories of Dublin, of 1916 and of the years that followed is a must see for all Dubliners.

Mags, who was also known in Dublin as the Liberty Bird, is captured here by her Grandson, Dublin filmmaker Sé Merry Doyle.

“In 1982 I interviewed my Granny Maga Merry,” Sé explains.

“Mags was 94 at the time.

“A wonderful storyteller, in this episode she recalls event surrounding the 1916 rising and its aftermath.

“The wee film also includes my mother Nan and her sister Brigid.”

This video truly is a really wonderful and important piece of Dublin’s history.
