Dublin City Council is celebrating Seachtain na Gaeilge 2026, the international Irish language festival running from 1–17 March, with the familiar invitation to all: Bain Triail Aisti – give it a go!

This year’s programme features an exciting mix of events across the city, from creative activities, cultural workshops, music and dance, to guided walks, sport, conversation circles, and pop-up Gaeltachtaí. Events take place in Dublin City Libraries, community centres, cultural venues, and in partnership with Irish language groups throughout the capital.

Encouraging everyone to take part the Lord Mayor of Dublin Councillor Ray McAdam said, “Seachtain na Gaeilge is a celebration of who we are as a city and as a people. From the first of March to the seventeenth, Dublin will come alive with the sound of our native language, in our libraries, our community centres, our streets and our shared spaces.”

“This is one of the most uplifting moments in our cultural calendar. It brings neighbours together, strengthens the bonds of community, and reminds us that our language is not something of the past, but something living, joyful and full of possibility.

Dublin City Council is proud to support a programme that welcomes everyone, fluent speakers, learners, families and communities of every background. Whether you have a lifetime of Irish or just a cúpla focal, I encourage you to step forward, give it a go, and be part of this wonderful celebration across our city”
