Dublin actor Barry Keoghan will step behind the drum kit to play Ringo Starr in not one, not two, not three, but four movies about the Beatles.

The Oscar-nominated Dub will join fellow Irishman Paul Mescal, Babygirl star Harris Dickinson and Stranger Things star Joseph Quinn in playing the four members of the Beatles.
Keoghan will play Ringo Starr, Mescal will play Paul McCartney, Dickinson will play John Lennon, and Quinn will play George Harrison.
Keoghan was most recently seen on our screens in the Irish drama Bring Them Down and the Andrea Arnold film Bird.
Oscar-winning director Sam Mendes will direct four films, with the plan to focus on each of the band members with the films having an interconnected storyline.
Sony plans to release all of the films in same month – April 2028.
The logline from Sony reads: “each man has his own story, but together they are legendary. The Beatles – A Four-Film Cinematic Event. In cinemas April 2028.”
Mendes, director of films such as American Beauty, Skyfall and 1917, said, “I had been trying to do a film for years, but I finally gave up because was too big for one film and a TV series didn’t seem quite right.”
“There had to be a way to tell the epic story for a new generation; I can assure you there is still plenty left to explore, and I think we found a way to do that.”
The director said he intends to create “the first bingeable moment in cinema.”
In the meantime, Keoghan will be seen on our screens in The Immortal Man, the film version of Peaky Blinders, and will reunite with American Animals director Bart Layton for the crime thriller Crime 1010.
