Hugh Lane Gallery and Dublin City Council Presents: ‘Art & the Outdoors’ 2024
Dublin People 23 Jul 2024Dublin City Council and the Hugh Lane Gallery has announced the return of its much-anticipated ‘Art & the Outdoors’ event, set to take place over two days on Saturday 3 August and Sunday 4 August 2024 in Parnell Square North in front of the Hugh Lane Gallery.
Everyone is invited to ‘make your mark’ at this free, fun, family-friendly event which offers a weekend packed with live music, poetry readings, and interactive art activities, making it an unmissable cultural experience for all ages.
This August Bank Holiday weekend, be inspired by artists who moved out of their studio to paint ‘en plein air’ or out of doors. Join us in rediscovering the creative potential of our surroundings, our city and our streets on the doorstep of the Hugh Lane Gallery.
Event Highlights:
- Live Music and Poetry Readings: Enjoy captivating performances by local musicians, such as the cello folk duo Marmosets, accordion duo Dermot Dunne and Martin Tourish, harp and voice artist Méabh McKenna, and more.
- Interactive Art Activities for all ages: Participate in artist-led drawing sessions with life models and explore the world of en plein air art through workshops and live demonstrations.
- Street Art: Dublin artist Jess Tobin (aka Novice) will create amazing street art on the day.
- Family-Friendly Fun: From face painting to balloon artists and street spectacle, there’s something for everyone in the family to enjoy.
- Sensory Spaces: Quiet spaces indoors and outdoors are available for families.
- Food stalls with crepes, churros, rolled ice cream, teas and coffees.
