Here are the best films playing Dublin May 31st-June 3rd
Mike Finnerty 31 May 2024Another bank holiday weekend is here! Rejoice!
Another weekend is here in the thick of election season when people won’t stop talking about politics! Rejoice again!
For people who want to avoid the political chit-chat and/or the sunshine, Dublin’s cinemas are here to help you out over the bank holiday weekend.
First up, we have the Lighthouse showing The Crow for its 30th anniversary and to mark the upcoming remake.
The film was overshadowed at release in 1994 owing to the death of leading man Brandon Lee (son of Bruce) in a freak on-set accident, but the film has taken on a life of its own over the last 30 years.
A cult hit among the alternative community and featuring a great 90s rock soundtrack and visuals, The Crow is sure to set your 90s nostalgia off.
The film will be showing all across the bank holiday weekend and will also be showing at Cineworld.
Following on from last week, Trainspotting will also be playing at the Lighthouse across the weekend after reportedly pulling in good numbers last weekend – a new generation gets to experience the music of Iggy Pop, great!
Like The Crow, the film will be showing every day of the bank holiday weekend at the Lighthouse with the IFI also showing Danny Boyle’s landmark film.
The Stella are in an 80s mood – Saturday afternoon will see the cinema play Feris Bueller’s Day Off and Sunday will see the cinema show The Goonies.
If the 90s aren’t your thing, the Stella has you covered.
Following on from last week, the major Hollywood film in release is Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga.
Despite the doom spiraling from other media outlets about the film’s box office performance, that doesn’t detract from the film being an absolute banger that will blow you to the back of the cinema.
Look out for the film in all cinemas big and small (but see it big!)
