Man charged after €2.8m worth of cannabis seized at Dublin Port

Gardaí who assisted Revenue officers that seized approximately 142kgs of herbal cannabis with an estimated street value of €2.84 million at Dublin Port on Sunday have charged the suspect.

In a statement, a Garda spokesperson said: “The man, aged in his 40s, who was detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 at a Garda Station in Dublin has since been charged in relation to the seizure and is due to appear before the Criminal Courts of Justice, this evening Monday 22nd May, 2023 at 4.30p.m.”

According to Revenue, the illicit drugs were discovered when officers stopped and searched a vehicle which had arrived from France.
