Rhasidat Adeleke of Tallaght AC broke her own Irish 200m record with a blistering time of 22.34 (+1.8) at the Tom Jones Memorial Invitational in Florida on Friday evening (April 14th).
The new record smashes her previous best of 22.52 which she clocked indoors back in late January.
This latest record-breaking performance comes on the back of a superb indoor season for the 20-year-old which has seen her claim a silver medal in the 400m final at the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Championships back in March.
The Tallaght sprint star then ran on Saturday night and became the first Irish woman to run below 50 seconds for the 400m as she finished second behind Britton Wilson in a time of 49.90.
Rhasidat Adeleke’s previous best outdoors was the 50.53 which she ran in the European final in Munich last year, a race in which she finished fifth.
