Seizure of over €469,000 worth of controlled drugs in Lucan

Following a Day of Action yesterday as part of Operation Tara in Balgaddy, Lucan, thirty one (31) searches were conducted, over €469,000 worth of controlled drugs, cash to the value of €3,330 and a Surron electric scooter was seized.

The operation was led by Ronanstown Drug Unit and assisted by members attached to Serious Crime South, DMR West and Community Engagement at Ronanstown Garda Station and the Dog Unit

A total of thirty one warrants were executed in the Balgaddy area as part of this day of action which comprised of 11 houses and 20 locations that included communal areas, bin shed’s, communal gardens and waste ground in the area.

As a result of the operation, controlled substances with a cumulative estimated street value of €469,353.00, pending analysis, cash totalling €3,330 and a Surron Electric bike were seized, consisting of the following controlled substances:

•Cannabis – €12,466
•Crack Cocaine – €12,827
•Alprazolam – €3,900
•Diamorphine – €440,160

A Garda spokesperson said: “Further enquiries are being conducted including the examination of mobile phone devices seized as part of the operation and the forensic analysis of exhibits seized.

“Investigations are ongoing.”
