Pickleball has become the latest global trend to reach Irish shores.
A mix of tennis and badminton, the sport has become one of the most popular sports in urban centres across North America.
Not requiring as large a court as tennis, the sport has gained popularity for its relative ease of setting up a game.
The sport is booming in South Dublin, with the growing success of the Eyva’s Invitational Series attracting players from across Ireland and abroad.
Since its launch in June 2025, the series has grown significantly, becoming a nationally recognised tournament that welcomes players from throughout Ireland as well as international visitors.
Eyva Voon, Founder and Tournament Director of the Eyva’s Invitational Series, said “when I launched the series in June 2025, my vision was to create more opportunities for people to enjoy pickleball through social play, competitive tournaments and valuable match practice.”
“I never imagined that within a year we would be welcoming players from all over Ireland and overseas,” she said.
“It has been incredibly rewarding to see the pickleball community continue to grow, and I hope the Eyva’s Invitational Series will keep bringing people together while promoting the sport in Ireland and internationally.”
The Eyva’s Anniversary Cup 2026, held on June 13 and 20 in Terenure, attracted more than 270 players across two tournament days.
The tournament catered for every standard, from 3.0- beginners playing their first competitive matches to 4.0+ advanced/open-level players competing at an exceptionally high level.
Players travelled from Dublin, Cork, Galway, Kerry, Limerick, Wexford, and Northern Ireland, and visiting players from the United States, giving the event a true All-Ireland tournament with an international flavour.
The two weekends featured exciting matches showcasing skill, determination and sportsmanship.
The beginner divisions encouraged many first-time players to experience tournament play, while the advanced divisions highlighted some of Ireland’s strongest pickleball talent.
Players also enjoyed anniversary gifts, a fun anniversary scratch card with the chance to win special prizes, and livestreamed and recorded matches on the Eyva’s Invitational Series YouTube channel.
Planning is already underway for future events, including the Rocha Brava Cup 2026 in Portugal this October.
