Up close with fire engines, rescue teams, fleets and their K-9 partners at Coastival Emergency Services Open Day

On Sunday July 13, from 11am to 4pm, Dún Laoghaire will be a spectacular sight as front line heroes converge at St Michael’s Pier (Old Ferry Terminal) for Emergency Services Open Day as part of Coastival presented by Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council.

Children and families can get up close, meet their heroes and animal heroes and experience the thrill of exploring the impressive fleets of Boats, Fire Engines, Garda Cars and rescue vehicles.

No booking or tickets required and all welcome to this family favourite Emergency Services Open Day event.

Attendees will also get to meet service dogs and horses and their clever canine heroes who perform complicated rescue missions and sniff out trouble to help protect our community.

It is a thrilling showcase and participants will include the RNLI, Irish Coast Guard, HSE National Ambulance Service, Customs and Revenue, Irish Defence Forces, Dublin Fire Brigade, An Garda Síochána, Civil Defence, Irish Red Cross, Order of Malta, Wicklow Rapid Response, Blood Bike and Irish Water Safety.

The American Fire Truck and the Irish Military Vehicles group will also be on display.

Sunday July 13 will also be the closing day of The Volvo Dún Laoghaire Regatta.

From Thursday July 10 to Sunday July 13, Dublin Bay from Howth to Dalkey Island will host six separate courses for no less than 36 competing classes of boats in what has now become the country’s biggest sailing event, with an average of 1,600 sailors competing.

The four-day event is set to welcome boats ranging from small 14-foot dinghies up to ocean-going 50-footers, with individual crew members travelling from all over the world to participate.

Coastival, organised by Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council, unleashes a wave of excitement and family fun in Dún Laoghaire this year with over forty events is various exciting locations.
