Dublin South FM granted new ten year broadcasting licence

Dublin South Local Broadcasting Co-Operative – known as Dublin South FM 93.9FM Community Radio confirms that it has been awarded a new Ten Year Broadcasting Contract/Licence by Coimisiún na Meán this week.

 The contract which was signed by Jeremy Godfrey, Executive Chairperson, and Rónán Ó’Domhnaill, Media Development Commissioner, with Aileen Eglington, Chairperson of Dublin South FM, and Bryan Fox, Vice Chairperson on Tuesday 2nd July 2024, at Coimisiún na Meán office.

Dublin South FM 93.9 Community Radio’s office is based at Dundrum Town Centre, Dundrum.

Dublin South FM 93.9 Community was co-founded by Mike Purcell in 1995 and will mark 30 years of broadcasting and serving the community in 2025.

Chairperson Aileen Eglington said “it is an honour for me, and my fellow volunteers and broadcasters, to have been awarded this new Licence so that we can continue to serve our community in Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown.”

Dublin South FM broadcasts every day from 11am to 11pm, led by Peter Rice, Station Manager, with a team of 15 staff, supported by employment schemes and with 100 volunteer broadcasters and producers, as well as the Board consisting also of Mike Purcell, John Spollen, Marian Shanley, Martha Lynam and Eimer Duffy.

Dublin South FM is part of CRAOL The Community Radio Forum of Ireland and is also a member of The Wheel.

Dublin South FM serves the community of Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown, and has been supported by way of patronage, grants and sponsorship as well as advertising by local organisations and companies including Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council, DLR LEO,  Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown Chamber of Commerce, DLR Public Participation Network, and Capital Credit Union.
