Gardaí investigating fatal road collision in Cabinteely last night

Gardaí in Dun Laoghaire are investigating a fatal road traffic collision that occurred on Johnstown Road, Cabinteely, yesterday evening at approximately 7.10p.m.

In a statement, a Garda spokesperson said: “The fatal collision involved a pedestrian and a jeep.

“The male pedestrian, aged in his 60s was fatally injured and his body has been removed to the Mortuary in St. Vincent’s University Hospital, Dublin.

“The male driver of the jeep, aged in his 20s did not require medical attention.

“The road remains closed at this time as Garda Forensic Collision investigators are conducting their examination of the scene. Local diversions are in place.

“Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.

“Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling on Johnstown Road, Cabinteely, between 6.30p.m. and 7.15p.m. are asked to make this footage available to Gardaí.”
