Dublin City Council launches Ballyfermot Cherry Orchard Arts Festival 2022

Dublin City Council has announced that the Ballyfermot Cherry Orchard Arts Festival 2022 will take place in person this year, for the first time in three years.

“The 2022 Committee have come together to create an amazing programme of events for the Festival, which will run between June 24 and July 10,” a council spokesperson says.

“It will be a fortnight of art, culture and fun-filled activities, with each week serving up the best of what the community of Ballyfermot and Cherry Orchard has to offer.”

For the past two years the festival, which used to just be called the Ballyfermot Festival, has been held online due to Covid-19 restrictions.

Ballyfermot Cherry Orchard Arts Festival honours singer, song writer, author and Ballyfermot man Declan O’Rourke with title of Grand Marshall of the Festival 2022.

“The role is an honorary one and is in recognition of his outstanding contribution to music over a long number of years during which he has represented all that is good about Ballyfermot.

“Declan’s work is known throughout Ireland and the world and he is a true ambassador for the arts,” the council says.

“Come and take part in some of the 40+ activities and events over the two weeks from family fun days, music performances, art attack, circus activities, open mic night, film screenings, opera in the park and lots more.

“There is something for everyone to enjoy, so see you there!”
