Gardaí seize 15 bikes and thousands of euro of tools in Lucan search

Gardaí in Lucan yesterday seized several bicycles, tools and building equipment after a search of a property in the area.

A Garda spokesperson said in a statement: “Gardaí in Lucan obtained a search warrant for a property in the Lucan area.

“During the search Gardaí seized various stolen property which included 15 bicycles and thousands of Euros worth of tools and building equipment.

“Efforts are underway to trace owners of the property.”

The number of bike thefts in Dublin are estimated to be about 20,000 a year according to a CSO survey.

However, the number of bicycle thefts that are reported to the Gardaí and entered in their Pulse system varies between 4,000 and 5,000 per year in Dublin – meaning only about one in five thefts are reported.
