Southside actor stars on the silver screen in Los Angeles

Dublin actor Aoife Hogan

Dublin actor Aoife Hogan screens in a Los Angeles film festival this week – for the second time this year.

She plays a glamorous femme fatale in horror short 'Grandfather', which has been selected by two LA festivals this year, the Independent Cinema Showcase, and the Hollywood Horror Film Festival.

Aoife’s character invites a young man to her London place for a drink. Their romantic evening starts to turn strange as she shows him her inherited grandfather clock – and then mentions a curse on it.

She says: “My character seems really old-school and innocent at first, and she just wants to meet someone nice in the crazy London online dating scene! But then you come to see there’s more to her than first meets the eye.”

The 29-year-old who is  originally from Harold’s Cross, is now acting and presenting in London.

Writer and producer of 'Grandfather', Nina Romain, said: “It was great to work with Aoife on my third horror short. We basically shot it in the middle of summer when we only had about six of hours of darkness to shoot it in

.“So all our cast and crew came straight from work to film it at my flat till 5am till it got light – then we all had breakfast in my kitchen and went back to our day jobs to start all over again!

“I’ve always been lucky to work with amazing people, and everyone’s hard work has paid off now we’re screening for a third time at the Hollywood Horror Film Fest.”
