HUAWEI Ireland has announced details of a year-long sponsorship deal with Cuala’s Senior Hurling team.
Huawei has been involved with the Southside club since 2017 and this year marks a further commitment by the electronics giant to support local communities by sponsoring the senior hurling team.
The sponsorship will see Huawei’s iconic logo appear across the senior hurling team’s jerseys from the start of September.
The announcement of the sponsorship agreement was made at the Cuala Hurling Legends Coaching Camp for Aspiring Champions which was held at the club’s Thomastown facility.
Sponsored and supported by Huawei, the purpose of the camp was to have senior hurlers take the underage players of the Cuala Academy for a morning of coaching and fun.
Over 500 children and their parents had great fun at the Cuala Legends Coaching Camp for Aspiring Champions.
Huawei Ireland CEO, Jijay Shen, said: “We are proud to support local initiatives that promote positive community engagement.
“Cuala’s Senior Hurling team set an example for the younger players in the club and they are great role models. Huawei wishes Cuala senior hurling team all the success for 2019 season.”
Cuala senior hurlers will wear the Huawei branded kit for the 2019 season as they will look to build on their recent successes in capturing the All Ireland Senior Hurling Club Championship in 2017 and in 2018.
Commenting on the announcement, Cuala Adult Hurling Chairman Barry O’Halloran, said: “The Adult Hurling Section is delighted to have Huawei as the primary sponsors of the Cuala Senior Hurling Team for 2019.
“Having already been a sponsorship partner since 2017, it was a major boost when they agreed to become the team’s lead sponsor for 2019.
“Like all GAA clubs Cuala is acutely aware of the important role we play in the local community.”
He added:“The club strives to provide our members with the best opportunities to participate in our games while also generating a strong sense of belonging within the community.”
Meanwhile, there will be an information meeting for transition year students interested in volunteering in Zambia (described as “some of the most unforgettable weeks of my life,” by one participant) on Monday, September 23 at 9pm in Cuala.
