Minister for Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, Josepha Madigan, has announced the launch of the tender process to develop a new Community, Cultural, and Civic Action Plan for Dundrum.

 The plan will set out proposals for new dedicated community and cultural facilities in the Dundrum area, and is being financed by the Government’s Urban Regeneration and Development Fund.

 The objective of the Dundrum Community, Cultural and Civic Action Plan is to:

• Provide a baseline study on the current level of community, civic and cultural facilities and service provision for Dundrum and environs;

Identify key needs/requirements, having regard to future population and demographic change to support ongoing community development;

Provide site specific development options for provision of community cultural and civic facilities in Dundrum, with a particular focus on a number of council-owned sites and also to explore the potential for the provision of facilities in collaboration with major private-sector developments.

Minister Madigan commented: “As minister with responsibility for culture and heritage, I am delighted to announce progress on new cultural facilities in Dundrum, backed by funding from the Government. In addition, this Action Plan will seek to support existing community and cultural facilities, ensuring that they remain vibrant.”
